"Michael Fassbender is delightfully slimy in the role, and is more magnetic even than the show's star James Nesbitt (though don't think that Nesbitt himself doesn't do a fine job holding the series together - he really does)."
TV Overmind Review
"Though intense, at times grim and graphic (the cover art warns of "adult language, nudity, and disturbing images") it approaches the greatness of The Wire, with which it is admirably compared, and Highly Recommended."

"Murphy's Law, Series 3 is not only an excellent police drama, it is also an incredible peek behind the scenes into the life of an undercover police officer. I've never seen another show on television to compare to this for the starkness of its depiction of the life people like Tommy Murphy have to lead in order to do their jobs. On top of that, the show makes no attempts to hide any of the moral ambiguities associated with this type of work and in the process reminds us the gap between those who commit the crimes and those who prevent them isn't as wide as we'd like to think. While there's no doubt who the good guys are, they tend to think a little too much the same as the bad guys for comfort. You might just end up agreeing with Callard when he tells Murphy at the end, "I could have been you and you could have been me." Only a really good television show would be brave enough to say that, and only the best of those have the ability to create a world where it is believable. This is one of those shows."

"This is such a gritty series as Murphy descends into the bowels of the underworld. There's no question that he'll mess up somebody's world if he locks in on them. The six episodes run together as an epic undercover movie and not merely short TV series. The tone doesn't back off and get cute."

"You Thought Murphy's Law Series 1 and 2 Were Dark? Ha!"
by Bob Etier
"James Nesbitt had asked the producers of the show Murphy's Law if they could make it darker and grittier in season 3 for him, and they succeeded. The writing is very solid and the characters are done well and feel as if they are really on the job, not like some shows. It's top notch British Police drama and is every bit as good as Wire In The Blood and Rebus among others."

"Series 3 is an example of that most formidable type of British television – tasteful but realistic, dramatic but grounded and all the while backed by a hardworking cast who never show any sign of coasting."

What does the audience say:
"Having viewed Seasons one and two of this superb British crime drama, I, of course, purchased Season three. My god, Season three (3) is really some excellent, intense wonderfully directed and acted T.V. viewing. Although some scenes in this six part (each part running over an hour) are horrific, I could NOT look away from the screen. Murphy seems, to me, to be even tougher, this season, as an undercover cop/detective posing as a "hit man" and infiltrating the crime worlds of some very nasty crooks. Of course, he has to be very tough to survive as an undercover cop in the worlds of the criminals that are portrayed in the six very gritty and intense stories in Season three of "Murphy's Law" All of the six parts on the two discs involve Murphy's attempt to catch a particularly ruthless cop killer and drug dealer, Murphy has to really go very "deep" into the very dangerous underworld of some very dangerous criminals putting himself, at all times, in mortal danger. Season three is really superbly directed and acted with great scripts that had me "biting my nails."

"THIS IS THE BEST PROGRAMME EVER!!!!!!!! I have never experienced better series than this one. I actually brought this watched it and now sold it. But not for the wrong reasons: I sold it and then I brought the whole box set of all the series. This series is better than any other one. Don't buy just this series buy the whole lot!!!!!!!!!"

"The first two series of Murphy's Law were pretty good little TV shows, but they weren't fantastic, they were nothing special but sometimes were worth watching. What this series did was take a reasonable show and make it one of the best things on television. What makes this such a great series? Partly it's the sheer grittiness of the thing, it's not that it's overly gritty but that it's horrifyingly realistic, every plotline could easily happen, every scenario, every action, it's all so plausible that it is at times uncomfortable viewing due to lessening that TV-reality barrier we all put up. Partly it's that, unlike previous series, it all deals with the one long case instead of a new one every week. Partly it's that undercover police work is just so fundamentally dangerous that the whole series feels like it's permanently on the edge, one wrong move and all hell breaks loose. To be honest, trying to pin down what makes Murphy's Law so great is a pretty tricky task, but the fact is that it is great, so if you've not seen it before then go rent some right away, you're in for a real treat. By the way, starting from series three causes no problems since there isn't any overflow of plot from the last two."
