Jane's Travel Style

"I really love the plaid dress that Jane wears when she comes to Thornfield and leaves Thornfield," says Fukunaga. "It has a sort of cape shawl and a blue collar that looks like it’s dyed from indigo."

Period Accessories

"I wanted to have the freedom to be able to shoot Jane in her points of undress," notes director Cary Fukunaga (including her corset, made of vintage textiles) ."

Leather and Lace Gloves

Fukanaga, who has been interested in historical costuming since a young age, understood the importance of using "the right kinds of leathers" needed to make the film's accessories, including these gloves.

Textured Boots

These lace-up shoes are similar to Jane's wedding boots, but with a more textured pattern. Growing up, "I really liked textures and colors and different kinds of dyes," notes the director.
