Blood Creek is one of a few films that was passed over for a theatrical release by Lionsgate in favour of a straight to DVD showing instead. Watching Blood Creek will make one ponder why the film was not supported with more confidence by this distribution company as Nazi occultism is given style. In the film, the controversial practice of black magic practiced by the German Fascists is given a believable story. The use of the occult heightens the thrilling atmosphere of the film.

The Nazi practice of occultism is still controversial, yet, not a hard stretch based on past Nazi exploits, e.g., the Holocaust. The film does not delve into the debate and instead delivers a story of Nazi scientists practicing witchcraft in the farmlands of America. Here ancient Nordic runestones have been laid for the development of a perfect Nordic race. One Nazi wears bone armour, drinks blood, and preys on the weak in order to create this immortal German race.

It is not hard to believe that the German High Command would send Nazi agents into America to discover buried secrets. Germany used a great deal of espionage in the 1930s and 1940s to develop extraordinary weapons, e.g., V-1, other rocket technology. But would the Germans delve into the dark arts? Much of Germany is descended from a Pagan mythology. Paganists of the past believed that there was no afterlife, so to base Blood Creek's story on searching for immortality is false. However, the practice of using was an ancient Pagan tradition. Sending German spies into the United States is believable, while searching for immortality is not.

The development of various spells in Blood Creek creates for an innovative visual experience. Dead animals rise up with whitened eyes to torment the living. Blood sacrifices create for gruesome displays and the Nazi occultist is given a grisly appearance. In fact, this Nazi occultist is more than just an ugly face but a Latin reciting spell crafter. Anything can and is changed by this dark magician to create chaos for two heroic, but outmatched brothers (Dominic Purcell, Henry Cavill).

The unpredictability of Nazi occultism creates for a thrilling cinemascape. The villain in the film changes form, attack styles, and use of witchraft to keep the tension high. Placing an almost immortal evil presence against the frail and vulnerable heroes makes for an exciting watch. The controversial topic of Nazi occultism is given a believable edge in Blood Creek, which makes this film's path seem unmapped yet thrilling.
