Integral 'Alien' Character Possibly in Ridley Scott's 'Prometheus'

"This is one production film fans will be looking forward to in 2012. Prometheus may or may not be an Alien film but its director – Sir Ridley Scott – says it contains the DNA of the classic sci-fi horror series. More intriguing details have emerged from the production via Sky Movies and they go back and refer to what we know as the Space Jockey.

An insider (aren't they always?) revealed the Space Jockey will definitely be making an appearance and it'll be in animatronic form:

"I've had further confirmation that the Space Jockey creature is definitely in Prometheus and has been built as an eight foot animatronic. I've also had it confirmed that HR Giger is working on the project but only in an advisory capacity. By the way, people are going to be in for a shock when they sit down to watch Prometheus and there's an enormous semi-human head piloting a spaceship."

Sounds like a strange and interesting image and one dreamed up by the mad Swiss artist whose iconic and very sexual imagery birthed a movie icon. No doubt some CG will be involved somewhere in bringing it to life as befitting a major blockbuster.

Michael Fassbender, Noomi Rapace and Charlize Theron will star and it's also rumoured Monsters actor Scoot McNairy is being considered for a part, too. The script has been worked on by Damon Lindelof. Last year Scott told Deadline and he had this to say on the project:

"While Alien was indeed the jumping off point for this project, out of the creative process evolved a new, grand mythology and universe in which this original story takes place. The keen fan will recognize strands of Alien's DNA, so to speak, but the ideas tackled in this film are unique, large and provocative. I couldn't be more pleased to have found the singular tale I'd been searching for, and finally return to this genre that's so close to my heart."

So a giant semi-human head piloting a ship. Who dreamed up this project – Salvador Dali's ghost? Prometheus opens in 2012 and film fans cannot wait!"
